What is SURGE
The Supporting U.S. Regional Growth & Entrepreneurship (SURGE) Program equips regional coalitions with the structure, guidance, and connections needed to move from planning to action. Powered by the National Science Foundation (NSF), SURGE supports both existing regional coalitions and leaders who are building new cross-sector partnerships to advance regional innovation and economic growth efforts across the United States.

Expert Resources
Why It Matters
SURGE helps regional coalitions regain momentum, identify blind spots, and take clear next steps toward funding, investment, and long-term economic growth through structured pathways, targeted guidance, and a trusted peer network.
SURGE brings together regional development expertise, practical implementation support, and a national network of practitioners, mentors, and peers. Participants can share lessons learned, test strategies, and connect with people who understand the work of moving regional coalitions from planning to action. These connections help regions move faster, avoid common pitfalls, and benefit from insights and connections.
