Across the country, communities faced real challenges in 2025, from tightening resources to increasing demands on local leaders. As US Ignite has seen repeatedly, progress continues when partners come together around shared goals and a commitment to innovation.
This year’s work highlights that momentum in action. US Ignite supported communities as they strengthened broadband planning, tested new approaches to safer streets through responsible uses of AI, and advanced data-driven tools at military installations to improve operational awareness and quality of life. These efforts reflect a consistent focus on turning emerging technology into practical outcomes that communities can use today and build on tomorrow.
The year also marked important steps toward what comes next. In 2025, US Ignite announced new National Science Foundation funding for Supporting U.S. Regional Growth & Entrepreneurship (SURGE), an upcoming initiative designed to help regional coalitions move from innovation strategy to economic results. With a planned launch in Spring 2026, SURGE builds on lessons learned across our community, military, and research work.
These highlights only scratch the surface. Explore the 2026 Annual Impact Report to see how partnerships, pilots, and platforms are shaping the future of innovation nationwide.
"When strong partnerships come together with a shared sense of purpose, innovation continues to move forward." Dr. Nick Maynard, CEO, US Ignite
