WiRover: A Technology for Robust Internet Connectivity and Smart Transportation for Vehicles. WiRover technology provides high-bandwidth, robust, and seamless connectivity to moving vehicles. The technology has been deployed in the ambulances and is enabling advanced emergency response solutions from the ambulances. Doctors in hospitals can directly access patient records, their current vital data, an audio-visual feed, and other critical information as soon as the ambulance first arrives at the patient site. Quick and robust access to such information can significantly improve the nature of urgent care in a manner not possible otherwise. Other successful deployments include public transit buses and taxi cabs where the technology drives real-time audio-visual messaging and navigational services. We will show videos of how the WiRover technology works in relaying critical data using some EKG and related medical equipment as examples.
Connected Collaboration is a free, open source high definition, high fidelity, point-to-point video conferencing solution over gigabit networks using commodity PC and Mac hardware. It runs between client computers and does not use an expensive MCU or conferencing bridge. We will show the difference in audio and video quality between video conferencing over the commodity internet and Connected Collaboration over gig networks. We will demonstrate several Connected Collaboration sessions including person-to-person and instructor-to-class, scenarios using GENI technology to replicate remote video streams in Chicago. Scenarios will include health and wellness, STEM education, and a duet between musicians in Cleveland and Chicago all done with commodity computers and webcams.
On the Same Page is an interactive slide presentation tool for broadcasting slides onto the other nearby iOS devices. We will broadcast slide presentations onto several iPads and iPhone, together with visitors' own iOS devices by installing "On The Same Page" app to them. Visitors can try out the app to see if it can be used in education, conference presentations, private meetings, public safety, and so on.

ParaDrop is a virtualized platform for home WiFi gateways that allows diverse third-party services (e.g., home automation) to be easily installed and managed. - We will show how developers can install different applications and services on a home WiFi gateway to: 1) Sense the home environment by collecting temperature and humidity information from home deployed WiFi sensors; 2) View a home security camera that stores its data privately in the home gateway; and 3) Operate a media transcoding service that allows us to stream news channels to the home users over WiFi paths.
Securing OpenMRS (open source medical record system) by deploying it in the SeaCat Application Containment framework. Demo will show the following: - Initially user only has access to the default network context. - User uses a browser to request access to the medical record server. - User goes through SeaCat-enhanced single-sign-on (SSO) procedure. - On success: = User device is dynamically associated with the secure network context which contains the medical record server. = On the user device the medical record client application is started up within a lightweight container. = The lightweight container is also associated with the secure network context. - In this manner access to the medical record system is secured in an end-to-end manner.
Our interactive physical therapy interface provides remote, in-home assessment and coaching with quantitative measurement of balance and movement 1. A physical therapist (PT) will be standing by at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. 2. Participants at the US Ignite Application Summit will be able to work remotely with the PT as she guides them through a set of balance and walking exercises using the new interactive interface with a Microsoft Kinect positioned at each end. 3. The interface will show the live patient performance quantitatively through visualizations. 4. GENI hardware is used in the interface to achieve seamless streaming of video, audio, depth, and skeletal data from the Kinect. 5. Networking performance is also shown.
Telefitness application connecting fitness coaches to clients with on demand and real time collaboration. First, will show the application and describe its use of GENI. A remote fitness instructor from Blacksburg will lead participants through an intense cardio workout on stage. We expect sweat and fun.
BABBLE - Instant text and speech communication connecting multilingual participants. We give a demonstration of a speaker presenting to multilingual participants. The demonstration will consist of an English speaker with Spanish and Chinese participants using three laptops to communicate instantly. The translation is written and spoken in the participants' native languages.
