We want to emphasize the need and demonstrate the potential of high gigabit, low latency networks for advanced collaborative manufacturing and K-12 / engineering education
In the manufacturing context, a customer can input a target micro part design and be able to assess feasibility using virtual reality environments and other tools residing on the cloud. Other partners can participate in this virtual analysis of designs which eventually can be manufactured (or assembled). Manufacturing and engineering enterprises will be able to collaborate globally and rapidly bring advanced products to market. We plan to use these manufacturing examples to teach next generation engineering concepts to university and K-12 students. On the educational side, students will get to explore and learn about this advanced manufacturing domain through cloud technologies from remote locations as well.
